Andhra Pradesh IT, electronics and education minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation today (28 February) for Blue Jet Healthcare Limited's Rs 2,300 crore pharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Seetalpalem in Rambilli, Anakapalli district.
The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant expansion of India's speciality pharma and contract development and manufacturing organisation capabilities in the region.
The greenfield project, spread across 102.48 acres, sanctioned by the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited in Industrial Park Rambilli Cluster Phase II, is expected to generate employment for 1,750 direct jobs and 250 indirect positions.
The facility will produce contrast media intermediates used in medical imaging, high-intensity sweeteners, and multipurpose chemistry products.
The facility will be developed in phases, with the first phase involving an investment above Rs 1,000 crore and initially targeting a capacity of up to 1,000 kilolitres.
Phase I is scheduled for completion by July 2027, while Phases II and III are expected to be finished by October 2031, with full operations targeted for the 2028-29 financial year.
Founded in 1968 as Jet Chemicals Private Limited, Blue Jet Healthcare has evolved into a science-led pharmaceutical company headquartered in Maharashtra.
The company supplies advanced pharmaceutical intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients to markets in India, Europe, and the United States.
The facility will integrate advanced environmental technologies, including an Effluent Treatment Plant with marine discharge connectivity and Zero Liquid Discharge systems designed to enable a 70 per cent reduction in energy consumption whilst recovering 90-95 per cent of wastewater.
The project strengthens north Andhra's emergence as a preferred destination for pharmaceutical and information technology investments, positioning the Rambilli Industrial Park as a hub for high-value chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing along India's eastern coast.
