Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a series of major infrastructure projects for Gurugram in the state budget presented on Monday, including a 14 km elevated corridor, five flyovers and the revival of the Greater Southern Peripheral Road aimed at reducing congestion on National Highway 48.

The eight-lane elevated road, stretching from Ghata to Vatika Chowk and then connecting to NH48, carries an estimated cost of around Rs 2,900 crore, with completion expected within approximately two and a half years after tender allocation.

The project comprises two segments: a 5.1 km stretch from Vatika Chowk to NH48 at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 1,065 crore, and an 8.84 km stretch from Vatika Chowk to Ghata costing around Rs 1,846 crore.

Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority officials confirmed the detailed project report has been prepared, and the tender process will begin following budget approval.

The elevated corridor is designed to benefit sectors, colonies and societies from Sector 45 to Sector 115, with ramps for entry and exits along the entire Delhi-Jaipur Highway.

Alongside the elevated road, the state budget allocated Rs 302 crore for five new flyovers at key junctions to ease traffic congestion. These include Ambedkar Chowk, Dadi Sati Chowk, Millennium City Centre, Bakhtawar Chowk and Garhi Railway Crossing near Basai.

The Dadi Sati Chowk project alone is estimated at Rs 47 crore and involves the construction of a six-lane flyover approximately 900 metres long over the busy intersection near Sector 84.

The Greater Southern Peripheral Road revival forms part of the broader infrastructure push, with authorities having notified 671 acres of land for acquisition across multiple villages.

The GMDA plans to construct elevated roads on two stretches—Ghata to Vatika Chowk and Vatika Chowk to NH48—designed to link the Southern Peripheral Road to the Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, providing signal-free connectivity and reducing travel time for thousands of daily commuters navigating the congested corridor.
