Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (31 January) reiterated India's continued support for the Palestinian people and welcomed ongoing peace efforts, including the Gaza peace plan, during a high-level meeting with Arab foreign ministers in New Delhi.
The Prime Minister received a delegation of foreign ministers from Arab countries, along with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States and heads of Arab delegations, who were in India to participate in the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
During the meeting, PM Modi outlined a vision for the India-Arab partnership by reaffirming India's commitment to further deepen cooperation across key sectors, including trade and investment, energy, technology, healthcare and other priority areas, for the mutual benefit of the people of both regions.
India has traditionally supported the Palestinian cause while maintaining diplomatic engagement with Israel, and has consistently called for dialogue, humanitarian access and a negotiated two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security.
The Prime Minister highlighted the deep and historic people-to-people ties between India and the Arab world, describing the region as India's extended neighbourhood.
During the India-Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that pushing forward a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, based on UN Security Council Resolution 2803, was a widely shared priority.
Jaishankar noted that the situation in Sudan, Yemen, Lebanon and Libya also merited collective attention, while the direction of events in Syria was critical for the well-being of the region.
